Francis J. Barre CIT of the Year Award
This award is given in honor of Francis J. "Frank" Barre, an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor Member, Camp Director, and lifelong professional in the Boy Scouts of America. Frank played a pivotal role in Scouting’s summer camp programs, serving in multiple Scout Councils and camps across the country and mentoring countless young leaders.
Frank passed away in 2023, but his spirit, leadership, and unwavering commitment to Scouting continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. His influence on camp staff training, program development, and the Scouting community remains an enduring legacy.
Through this award, his passion for mentorship, leadership development, and fostering a strong camp staff lives on. The Francis J. Barre CIT of the Year Award ensures that each new generation of counselors and mentors carries forward the values he championed, shaping the future of Scouting’s summer camping programs.

Alex Goodrich
Alex Goodrich’s experience with Scouting began as a Cub Scout in Pack 77 in Canton. His first exposure to New England Base Camp came while in Cub Scouts, and he has loved the program ever since.
Alex’ favorite activities at camp have always been shooting sports and anything related. This past year, Alex had the opportunity to join the staff as a CIT, and he distinguished himself with his energy and enthusiasm. He was always the first one to volunteer to help out and would always bring spirit when working with the kids.
Currently a ninth grader at Canton High School, Alex has a passion for science and performing arts and hopes to pursue nursing after graduation. He looks forward to continuing to serve the Scouting community for years to come.
