History of Wah-Tut-Ca Now Available!

On May 14, 2007 Arcadia Press released The Key Foundation’s “Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation. As part of Arcadia’s distinguished “Image of America Series”, the book tells the story of Scout camping in Greater Lowell.

It’s three histories in one. The story begins with, “The Land for Friends and Brothers” and tells about the history of Northwood’s “Blake’s Hill” district. The next chapters tell the story of how Boy Scouting began in Greater Lowell and the early Boy Scout Camps that were started.

Finally it tells the story of the building of Wah-Tut-Ca and how it adapted to the times and became one of the most successful Scout Camps in America.

There are over 200 photos, some over 100 years old that haven’t been seen in almost as long. This project represents almost 20 years of research and nearly 2 years of editing.  Nine Authors and dozens of researchers and contributors participated in the project.  Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation is the first national publication of the history of a Boy Scout Camp.

Overall this book is a story about people, special people with vision and through their talent and commitment resulted in a place called Wah-Tut-Ca. The Key Foundation Inc. is proud to tell the story.
