Since 2005 groups of friends and brothers have swam the three mile length of Northwood Lake. The did so to honor Andrew Curry Green, one of their own, who died on September 11. This fundraising event has been a big part of the effort to build the Andrew Curry Green Boathouse at Wah-Tut-Ca. where Andrew served as a staff member.
This year we will swim again in honor Andrew and complete the fundraising effort for the boathouse.
The swim will begins at 10 am at MacCallum's Boathouse at the far end of Northwood Lake. Anyone interested in participating, either as a swimmer, spotter, or support crew, should contact Jon Keating at keating.jon@gmail.com.

Please join us to celebrate the completion of the new Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation boathouse. On August 2, 2008 the boathouse will be officially named after Andrew Curry Green. The structure is now complete and it is time to fill it with good memories, life & laughter.
Many people came together to make this project a reality. Several campaigns were held to raise the necessary funds. Three Lake Swims and a special Evening For Andrew raised major funds. The remainder came from generous contributions from family, friends and brothers.
Construction began last fall. Daniel Hugh Farrell of the Key Foundation along with Dick Preble from Yankee Clipper Council served as co-project managers. This spring the final touches are being added for the opening day on July 6.
When the Key Foundation began this project it was with the idea to make a place to remember not how Andrew died on September 11, but to remember how he lived. The Andrew Curry-Green Boathouse is not a monument, it is a living breathing place full of fun and adventure. Just like how Andrew lived his life. It will forever keep Andrews spirit alive.
Please join us on August 2. Bring your family and share this wonderful moment in the history of Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation. The day we bring our brother home to the good soil of WTCSR. |
